Because we are connected to many employers through both our companies, Delta Personnel, Inc and Delta Administrative Services, LLC, we know first-hand that employers are having a very hard time finding employees willing and able to go back to work, especially for positions with lower pay.

We recently attended a webinar that described “the perfect storm” situation we’re in and how tax returns, stimulus checks, and added unemployment benefits contribute to difficulty finding workers. Even if these numbers are slightly accurate, it definitely shows why there is little incentive to return to work. The big news coming out of DC is that the Labor Secretary has been officially sworn in, which should get things moving.

In January, President Biden signed an executive order directing the Department of Labor’s launch of a national program to focus OSHA enforcement efforts related to COVID-19 on hazardous conditions that put the largest number of workers at serious risk and on employers that engage in retaliation against employees who complain about unsafe conditions. As a result, on March 12, OSHA issued a National Emphasis Program (NEP), which “target[s] specific high-hazard industries or activities” where the danger of contracting COVID-19 is prevalent.

Lastly, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the shooting in Colorado.
